for elephant lovers
and those aspiring to be one!
Why an online shop dedicated exclusively to elephants?
Because the elephant is more than just an animal—it is a symbol of strength, wisdom, gentleness, and community. Whether large and powerful or quiet and graceful, elephants fascinate us with their charisma and significance. In many cultures, they are considered lucky charms and spiritual companions.
I started collecting elephant figurines as a child. Later, on my travels through Asia, I discovered beautiful home accessories, jewelry, and handmade products that feature elephants at the center of their design. I would like to share this passion with you!
Since 2014, cosy elephant has offered a fine selection of decorative items, bags, gift ideas, and accessories—all inspired by elephants. Many of these unique pieces come from small manufacturers in Indonesia, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. I select each piece personally—with great attention to detail and a keen eye for special designs. Some products are even made exclusively for cosy elephant.
Whether you are looking for a meaningful gift, want to embellish your home with a touch of Balinese flair, or want to treat yourself to a new favorite piece with an elephant design, at cosy elephant you will find extraordinary pieces made with love.
Our Commitment
At cosy elephant, it is not only the elephant that takes center stage—but also our collaboration with small craft businesses. To most parts, our products come from small, traditional workshops in Asia. Wherever possible, we work directly with the owners.
In Sri Lanka, we have already collaborated with Shoba Gallery—a women’s cooperative that combines traditional craftsmanship with a well-regulated working environment. You will also find paper products made from elephant dung in our shop. They are produced by maximus in Sri Lanka—handmade, using traditional paper-making techniques and without bleach. The project works together with the Millennium Elephant Foundation, an organization dedicated to caring for old and sick elephants.
In Kenya, we donate to a rescue and reintroduction program for orphaned elephants. The donation helps provide care for the animals and return them to suitable protected areas.
Shipping & Packaging—This Is How We Do It
As a small online shop, we make sure to handle packaging and shipping as efficiently as possible. Whenever available, we use some previously used shipping boxes and collected packaging materials—well preserved, but with a visible history.
Bubble wrap and plastic packaging often come from recycling and are not purchased new. We choose boxes that are as close to the right size as possible, in order to reduce the need for filling materials. We consolidate deliveries from Asia to avoid unnecessary transportation.
We communicate with our local partners about packaging options that do not require new plastic. Because every step in this direction counts—for the regions in which we work and for the elephants we would like to support.
Now I hope you enjoy discovering our products – and maybe you’ll fall in love with elephants too, just like I did.
With love, Elke
Elke
